Round us and over us the cold thoughts creeping (Michael, Michael: Michael of the battle-cry!) Round us and under us the thronged world sleeping (Michael, Michael: Michael of the Charge!) Guard us the Word; the trysting and the trusting Edge upon the honour and the blade unrusting Fine as the hair and tauter than the harpstring Ready as when it rang upon the targe.
- From To Saint Michael in Times of Peace by G.K. Chesterton
Bits of poetry aside, I'm sure some of you are wondering what this is about. This is the story of Tyler, told in fits and starts, from Tyler's point of view. Right now I've divided it into two books. The Paratrooper Chronicles, which references my life in the United States Army from 2002 (I didn't start this until 2003) until the end of 2006, and then everything after that, which dosen't have a catchy name yet.
As of this writing, at the end of the year 2007, I've been out of the Army for a little over a year (My official date was 20DEC, 2006). Currently, I'm writing what comes to mind as opposed to trying to keep a dedicated blog on one interest, so you might find topics ranging in one day from painting wargaming miniatures to how much I like bearded dragons and discussion on the nature of female submission, followed by my weight lifting routine.
I'm a sadomasochist, but unfailingly cultured, polite and possessed of what one companion called "a ferocious, savage male intellect". And no, this is not where I post some goony quiz about "What mental psychosis are YOU!" Ideally, you'd find me sipping Earl Grey or South African Red while being served by a properly humbled and trained female, dressed in the regalia of a Wehrmacht officer.
Unfortunately, I don't live my ideal much. I am not what you'd call monogamous right now, and don't plan to be anytime soon, but I am on the lookout for an actual partner, as opposed to an ocassional play mate.
If you're going to friend me, by all means, do so. But make sure you post here letting me know who you are, where you've came from, and why I should friend you. I tend to friend people who are interesting/share similiar interests, or who I have history with. If your journal is full of "What X are you" quizzes and we just happen to share a high school, you're not getting through the gate.
